Alexander Gurevich, an American-Israeli dual citizen, was detained at Ben Gurion Airport while attempting to flee to Russia under a new identity. The suspect allegedly orchestrated the $190 million Nomad Bridge hack in August 2022, exploiting smart contract vulnerabilities.

Gurevich had recently changed his legal name to "Alexander Block" days before his arrest. Blockchain security expert Peter Kacherginsky noted the suspect’s operational security failures despite technical proficiency: "He fits the profile of a crypto-native threat actor: skilled in smart contract exploitation but ultimately undone by poor opsec."

Israeli authorities are processing extradition to the United States, where Gurevich faces charges related to one of DeFi’s most significant security breaches. The case highlights ongoing challenges in cross-border crypto crime enforcement.
